What MonkeyFlix is

MonkeyFlix is Tom’s movie and TV collection — years of films and shows, sitting on a little server in the house and streaming straight to your TV, phone, tablet or laptop. It’s free, there are no ads, and there’s nothing to sign up for or cancel. Set it up once on whatever you watch on, and it’s there whenever you want it.

Your login was sent to you separately. Your username and password aren’t on this page — Tom sent them to you directly. Can’t find them? Just ask him.

Set it up on your device

Pick the one you’ll actually watch on. You can always add the others later, and watching away from the house works exactly the same — nothing extra to set up.

The address you’ll need

Every app asks for a server address. It’s this one:

https://jellyfin.tomhilbert.com:9443

Type it exactly — including the https:// at the start and the :9443 at the end. That last bit is the part people miss.

One quirk: this address works everywhere except on Tom’s own Wi-Fi. Setting up while you’re at Tom’s place? The apps usually spot the server on their own — look for MonkeyFlix under nearby or local servers — or just ask Tom for the home address.

Roku

  1. From the Roku home screen, use Search (or the Streaming Store) to find Jellyfin, and add the free official Jellyfin app.
  2. Open it. It will ask for a server address. Enter https://jellyfin.tomhilbert.com:9443 — exactly like that, :9443 and all.
  3. Choose Quick Connect and follow the four steps below. No password typing on the remote. Don’t see Quick Connect? Choose your name and type the password Tom sent you — slower, but it works.

Jellyfin is the app. MonkeyFlix is what’s inside it.

Apple TV, iPhone & iPad

  1. In the App Store, search for Swiftfin and install it. It’s free.
  2. Open Swiftfin, choose Add Server, and enter https://jellyfin.tomhilbert.com:9443 — the :9443 at the end matters.
  3. Sign in with Quick Connect (see below).

Swiftfin is in the App Store on all three — you can search for it right on the Apple TV.

Computer

  1. Open https://jellyfin.tomhilbert.com:9443 in any web browser.
  2. Sign in with the username and password Tom sent you.
  3. Bookmark it. That’s the whole setup.

Works on a Mac, a PC, and in your phone’s browser too.

What’s Quick Connect?

Typing a password with a TV remote is miserable, so there’s a shortcut.

  1. The TV shows you a 6-digit code.
  2. On your phone, open https://jellyfin.tomhilbert.com:9443 and sign in there once — a phone keyboard is far easier than a remote.
  3. Find Quick Connect in the menu and punch in those 6 digits.
  4. The TV logs itself in. That’s it — you only do this once per device.

The code only lasts a few minutes, so do this bit while you’re standing in front of the TV.
